Anders has tried over 30 cases to verdict, achieving favorable results for his clients in many difficult and complex trials. He represents companies and individuals in a wide range of litigation, government investigations, examinations, enforcement actions and internal investigations.
Anders' practice is national in scope. The matters he handles frequently involve multi-million dollar claims for fraud, RICO, breach of contract and various state and federal statutory violations. Anders has brought or defended claims on behalf of clients in industries including: banking, loan origination and servicing; digital and network broadcast media; financial services, insurance and private equity.
Anders represents public and private companies, individuals and non-profit entities responding to federal and state government agencies at all stages of investigation, in matters both civil and criminal. Anders frequently guides clients preparing for or responding to interview requests, subpoenas, search warrants, and regulatory audits and investigations. Anders has guided clients responding to government actions involving the EB-5 visa program, export laws, the False Claims Act, Medicare, Medicaid, and securities.
In addition to litigation and government investigations, Anders has led significant internal investigations throughout the United States on behalf of public and private companies on issues ranging from cyber-attacks and data breaches from both internal and external sources, waste, fraud and abuse, and embezzlement. He has led and conducted investigations on behalf of pharmaceutical and medical device companies involving off-label marketing, the False Claims Act and allegations regarding illegal kick-backs. He has also led investigations in highly regulated industries where internal investigations often require liaison with federal and state law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
Anders also provides clients proactive counsel regarding compliance practices and policies involving a variety of issues including the FCPA, AML, anti-bribery, data privacy, cyber security and corporate governance.
Anders devotes significant time to pro-bono work, defending indigent clients in federal and state court criminal cases. He has also successfully brought asylum claims on behalf of individuals fleeing religious persecution.
Before joining the firm, Anders worked as a federal prosecutor where he was involved in a variety of high-profile and complex investigations and jury trials, and arguing numerous cases before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. As a federal prosecutor, Anders held a top-secret clearance and conducted extensive work internationally, often involving foreign governments, while conducting prosecutions and investigations in national security-related matters.
Prior to his work as a federal prosecutor, Anders was a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps, serving as a judge advocate at Camp Pendleton. In that role, he prosecuted and defended hundreds of cases in Marine Corps courts-martial and litigated numerous jury trials to verdict.
