Andrea Sellers is a registered patent attorney and partner of the Intellectual Property and Technology Division. Andrea practices in all areas of intellectual property law, with an emphasis on the chemical, biosciences and animal health fields. She has significant experience in preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications, counseling and licensing in biochemical, chemical and mechanical technologies including animal health, veterinary products, vaccines, animal breeding, agricultural chemistry, agricultural seed, medical devices, DNA, proteins, antibodies, pharmaceuticals, drug conjugates, drug delivery, implanted drug delivery systems, umbilical cord blood and matrix cells, chemical biosynthesis, biofuels and bioenergy. Andrea also prepares legal opinions directed to freedom to operate and patent infringement, as well as conducts patent infringement analyses and patentability assessments.
Andrea has developed particular expertise in negotiating and drafting intellectual property agreements, including complex technology development and commercialization agreements, for example, drafting independent contractor, joint venture, research and development, technology transfer, distribution, and technology license agreements. Additionally, she counsels clients regarding FDA and other regulatory issues, including Paragraph IV certifications.
Andrea manages international trademark portfolios and counsels clients in developing and implementing strategies for protecting their trademark assets and avoiding infringement. Andrea's practice also includes representing companies with respect to intellectual property aspects of mergers and acquisitions and strategic investments.
