Shane Swanson advises closely-held business owners, executives and wealthy clients on a wide range of business matters, tax issues, and select litigated matters. Shane’s practice began in estate and gift tax planning. As a result, he has significant experience helping clients transition wealth from one generation to the next while minimizing the impact of transfer taxes. When helping clients through this process, Shane focuses on finding the simplest structure possible to achieve client goals while reducing ongoing administration costs. As part of this planning, Shane has worked with clients on charitable planning to achieve the client’s desired outcome, including working to insure intended purpose and tax minimization. As a result of the trust his clients have in his judgment and approach to legal matters generally, Shane’s practice now also includes advising business owners on a variety of matters. For example, Shane has helped counsel families on the sale of businesses both within a family and to unrelated parties, the development, management and sale of real estate, resolving contested matters between partners and among family members, and resolving litigated matters with the IRS. Regardless of the project, Shane strives to add value to his clients’ matters and differentiate himself from his competitors through strategic thinking, analysis, judgment and a passion for what he does. His ultimate goal is for his clients to count on him for sound advice on both personal and business decisions.
