Tim Laycock represents clients in a wide variety of complex commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and sales, financing, joint ventures, and leasing of all major property types, including office buildings, shopping centers, multifamily projects, industrial properties, hotels, resorts and mixed-use projects. His experience encompasses workouts of troubled real estate projects, including loan workouts and foreclosures, restructuring of equity investments, and resolution of landlord/tenant disputes. Tim has represented both major developers and equity investors in the structuring and formation of joint ventures and other investment vehicles for the development, ownership, and operation of real property. Among his clients are publicly traded real estate investment trusts, life insurance companies, and other financial institutions and investors in connection with their real estate investments. Tim represents both contractors and owners in the negotiation and preparation of architects' and construction and design contracts. Tim is also a LEED® Accredited Professional, demonstrating a thorough understanding of green building strategies and the LEED certification process. As one of only a few LEED AP attorneys in Kansas and Missouri, Tim is prepared to efficiently and effectively advise clients regarding the unique legal challenges and risks posed by the increasing prevalence of sustainable design in the building construction industry.
