Afghan Settlement
Attorneys are invited to attend a CLE training that will provide information on the resettlement of Afghan individuals and families in the U.S. since the fall of 2021.
Greg Bole, Managing Attorney at La Luz Immigration Clinic, a program of Catholic Charities, will share information about immigration pathways for those with Humanitarian Parole, including Special Immigrant Visas, an immigration program that grants permanent residence to people who aided the U.S. government abroad. Next Clare Murphy Shaw, Managing Attorney at Asylum Clinic Kansas City, and Mr. Bole will describe limited and more extensive pro bono opportunities and technical assistance available to those who would like to help resettled Afghans.
This training is open to those who are interested in learning more about Afghan individuals and families who have been resettled in the United States. Previous immigration experience is not required, and pro bono opportunities will vary from one-time clinics to extended representation.
CLE credit is pending in AZ, CO, KS, MN, MO, NE and TX.
