Stinson Represents Urban Outfitters in Development of New Kansas City Area Facility
Stinson LLP represented Urban Outfitters Inc. in negotiating incentives on the retailer's new 880,000-square-foot internet sales fulfillment and distribution center, expected to open in 2022. Once Urban identified the finalist sites for the project, Stinson sought proposals from state and local governments in the states and municipalities where the final development sites were located. Stinson then evaluated proposals and in the past few weeks, following identification of enhancements of/increases in the amount of incentives that could be offered, requested final proposals and negotiated final proposals and incentives.
The new facility is expected to create nearly 2,000 jobs, with a goal to hire 35% of its local workforce from within Wyandotte County, and to use minority-, women- and locally-owned businesses in the development process.
The firm partnered with multiple entities on this project through the Kansas City Area Development Council, the regional economic development organization for the 18-county Kansas City metro.
Stinson attorneys involved in this matter include David Frantze, Charley Jensen, Rich Cook, Karl Phares and Chris Frantze.
