World Trademark Review Recognizes Stinson as Leading Minnesota Practice

Stinson LLP partners Joel Leviton and Ruth Rivard were once again recognized as Minnesota “leading practitioners” in trademark law by the 2021 World Trademark Review 1000: The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals (WTR). The Stinson Minneapolis office was specifically highlighted as one of Minnesota’s leading trademark practices.

This is the ninth year Leviton has been selected as an IP leading practitioner, and the fifth year for Rivard.

According to the WTR, Leviton is a “practical, even-keeled” attorney who “tells clients what they need to know, not what they want to know." This honor recognizes Leviton's experience in counseling Fortune 500 companies and multinational clients in the entertainment, apparel, software and pharmaceutical industries. He provides global brand protection strategies and advises on trademarks in the U.S. and abroad.

The WTR described Rivard as an attorney who “cuts to the chase and gives straightforward advice." Rivard assists clients in maintaining and protecting their intellectual property, while providing creative and thoughtful branding strategies worldwide. She also helps clients large and small enforce their intellectual property rights and defend against legal claims brought by others through zealous representation in federal and state courts with an eye toward practical resolution.

In 2020, Stinson's intellectual property team filed 1,026 patent applications and 724 trademark applications. The team currently manages over 14,000 domestic and foreign trademarks and works closely with individuals and companies to develop innovative IP strategies that encourage growth while maximizing value and opportunity.
