Stinson's IP&T Team Supports Innovation: 2021 Year In Review

Stinson's Intellectual Property & Technology (IP&T) team of more than 50 attorneys, patent agents, and paralegals had another strong year helping clients protect, defend, and capitalize on their intellectual property (IP) assets. In 2021, Stinson IP&T attorneys continued developing strategies to encourage innovation and growth while helping clients achieve their business objectives:

Trademark

• Stinson manages 5,988 active U.S. trademarks and 6,569 active international trademarks.
• In 2021, we filed 458 trademark applications and successfully registered 346 trademarks.

Patent

• Stinson manages 5,766 active U.S. patents and 5,992 active international patents.
• In 2021, we filed 1,058 patent applications and successfully obtained 651 issued patents.

Stinson represented clients in eight new inter partes reviews or post-grant reviews filed during the 2021 calendar year. Stinson had an 80% institution rate on behalf of its clients for 2021, far exceeding the Patent Trial and Appeal Board's (PTAB) overall institution rate of 59% reported for the 2021 fiscal year.
