Tracey Holmes Donesky Highlighted in Attorney at Law Magazine "Athletes in Law" Special Edition

Stinson LLP Partner Tracey Holmes Donesky is featured in an Attorney at Law Magazine special issue, "Athletes in Law." The special issue features attorneys who played a collegiate sport or at a comparable athletic level.

Donesky details how playing Division I golf impacted her legal career as well as lessons she learned from being a student-athlete.

"Playing a Division I sport while trying to achieve the best academic record possible teaches you quickly how to juggle multiple priorities and succeed at both," Donesky said. "I apply that same discipline on a daily basis in the practice of law." She played golf at the University of Kentucky from 1991 – 1995.

Donesky also explains that she was drawn back to golf because of the inherent challenges the sport presents. "The shot in front of you is all you have – with all the decision-making that comes with it, factoring in the lie, the wind, the distance and how you will ultimately commit to and play the shot," she said. "It is not unlike litigating a case, taking the facts in the record and presenting for a judge or jury the best and most persuasive argument possible."

Donesky is an employment litigator with over 20 years of experience litigating and counseling employers in all aspects of the employment relationship, with particular and specialized experience defending whistleblower, harassment and discrimination cases, wage and hour collective and class actions and non-compete matters. She is also a certified mediator for employment matters of all types, with a special emphasis on whistleblower and retaliation claims under the Federal Railroad Safety Act and other related statutes. In addition, Donesky is a frequent speaker at national conferences and events, where she discusses recent legal developments.
