Gustafson Featured in Minnesota Lawyer's Breaking the Ice Series
Stinson LLP attorney Madeline Gustafson is featured in Minnesota Lawyer's "Breaking the Ice" series discussing the evolving field of data privacy law and the Minnesota Consumer Data Privacy Act (MCDPA), which takes effect July 31.
Gustafson provides insights on how the new law will impact businesses and consumers, as well as shares her passion for litigation and problem-solving. "This is a new frontier of law, and I want to be a part of it," she says.
As states continue to pass and revise data privacy laws, Minnesota has introduced the MCDPA, which will require companies to obtain consumer consent for data tracking and offer opt-out options. Gustafson notes that the MCDPA emphasizes consumer protection more than similar laws in other states and highlights the increasing need for businesses to adapt to evolving regulations in the digital landscape.
Gustafson also offers insights into her career journey, life as a new parent and authenticity in the legal profession. "You can be yourself and still be a great attorney," she says. "Lean in to who you are, because it makes you a better advocate. When you're more authentic, you're going to be more effective."
Gustafson is skilled in representing corporate clients in breach of contract, employment, and general liability cases and has drafted contracts, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and other essential litigation documents.
