Stinson Partners Laura Nelson and Iain Johnson Recognized as Up & Coming Attorneys by Minnesota Lawyer
Stinson LLP is excited to announce that Minneapolis Partners Laura Nelson and Iain Johnson have been selected as 2021 Up & Coming Attorneys by Minnesota Lawyer. Nelson and Johnson were selected by judges, bar groups and fellow attorneys for their work, leadership and community service in the first 10 years of their practice.
Laura counsels hospitals, physician and dental groups, health care professionals, nursing homes, assisted living communities and nonprofits on complex transactions, mergers and acquisitions, professional and facility licensing matters and more. She also uses her keen understanding of issues unique to rural health care providers and public hospitals to ensure that they may continue to provide critical services in their communities. Laura is also a board member of Care Providers of Minnesota Foundation, an organization that provides educational opportunities and scholarships to individuals providing professional care for seniors and people with developmental disabilities. She also serves on the Health Law Section Governing Council for the Minnesota State Bar Association where she helps the provide valued resources to its members and improve state law.
"I’m grateful to have Laura as a resource for brainstorming complex health and non-profit law issues," says Mary Foarde, a partner in Stinson's Health Care & Life Sciences division. "For our healthcare provider clients, she combines a deep knowledge of the applicable regulatory framework with a thorough understanding of their day-to-day operations. As a result, I consistently see her bring solutions for clients that are both pragmatic and legally sound. She has focus and attention to detail necessary to bring even the most complex transactions to a successful conclusion, along with the creativity necessary to resolve the inevitable problems that crop up along the way."
Promoted to partner earlier this year, Iain helps his clients invest in and develop communities throughout the state of Minnesota. Concentrated on projects using federal and state incentives, he guides clients through complex procedures like loan financing for affordable housing, construction financing, commercial real estate and agricultural financing. Using his legal knowledge and experience, Iain also helps promote justice for the LGBTQ+ community in and through the legal profession as member of the National LGBT Bar Association.
"Iain is a terrific real estate finance attorney. I have worked with him for many years on numerous different types of real estate transactions in a number of different states, and I have always been amazed at his in-depth knowledge and attention to detail," says Todd Phelps, a partner in Stinson's Real Estate and Finance Division. "Iain sees the 'big picture' with his ability to use his financial acumen and legal skills to help advance communities. He is a creative problem-solver who is efficient, effective and a pleasure to work with."
Nelson, Johnson and their fellow honorees will be recognized during a virtual celebration on September 17, 2021.
