Stinson's Managing Partner Talks Legal Technology & Security with the Kansas City Business Journal

Stinson LLP Managing Partner Allison Murdock was featured in a Kansas City Business Journal article, "Stinson's Murdock: Tech use, cybersecurity permeate firms' work (and budgets)." The article discusses the firm's recent technology and cybersecurity efforts, and how budgets and scope have increased to combat a dynamic threat landscape.

"There are a lot of requirements we follow, whether it's related to the secure transfer and storage of information and only giving privileges to those people who it is necessary to complete the task," Murdock said. "Those types of requirements from clients really drive our technology budget, as well as having all the resources necessary to efficiently handle matters for our clients, whether that’s matter management, document review or due diligence capabilities."

With a more refined focus on technology, Murdock emphasized that cybersecurity and insurance must also be addressed as safety nets for law firms. She also provided information on how the firm helps clients mitigate cybersecurity risks which includes the review of cyber insurance policies.

"It's essential to have cyber insurance to offset any losses in the event that anyone falls victim to ransomware, social engineering and other threats," she said. "We're very much focused on having appropriate cyber insurance, as are most of our clients."

Murdock serves as the managing partner of Stinson and holds ultimate responsibility for all aspects of the firm's operations and performance, including development and implementation of the firm's strategic initiatives. Her focus is on leading and growing a client-focused and community-engaged firm. In addition to serving as the firm's managing partner, Murdock is a member of its board of directors and executive committee.
